HISTORY IN SHORT

Samurai dojo was founded in 1969 by Shingo Ohgami Sensei when he came to Sweden as a visiting scientist at Chalmers University of Technology. At this time Ohgami Sensei also formed Swedish Karatedo Wadokai (SKW) where Samurai dojo is the main club (honbu dojo) Read about SKW

OUR CLUB

Here at Samurai dojo we practice the style of Wadoryu. The style was founded by Hironori Ohtsuka Sensei in 1931. The style is sprung from Shotokan karate with strong influences from Iaido and Jujutsu. Nowadays, the Wadoryu organization has been divided into several branches and we train in the Wadokai branch. Samurai dojo gathers people training from ages of ca5 years up to 80 years with many different backgrounds and professions.

We divide our trainingclassses as follows:

Basic karate - Beginner to orange (many higher belts join too)

​

Advanced karate - Green to black

 

Kumite (fighting) - All belts and ages

​

Friday session - Orange to black. (cardio, strenght, karate techniques)

​

Kodomo (children) - We have play-karate for our very youngest and a continuation group for kids up to about 13 years) Read about kodomo
